                                CLASSIFIED ADVERTISEMENTS

Classified Advertisements are inserted in the classified sections of newspapers. All newspapers have certain classified columns to publicize vacancies, products and services. They should be brief and legible. The tariff of the classified advertisement depends on the space taken or number of words used.

The following points should be kept in mind while drafting an advertisement.

1. It should be in a box

2. Give a heading like (a) Situation Vacant,

(b) Situation wanted

(c) For sale

(d) To let

(e) Tours and Travels

(f) Lost

(g) Found

(h) Education

3. Convey the message in brief

4. No punctuation except full stop

5. Maximum words 50\

Examples:

Note: “Situation Vacant’ is used for seeking employees by organizations or individuals.

           But “Situation Wanted” is used to seek a job by unemployed

1. You are the Principal of ABC Public School, Coimbatore. You need a PGT English for your school. Draft a suitable advertisement in not more than 50 words to be published in “The Dinamalar”, a local daily.

 

                        SITUATION VACANT

Wanted an experienced PGT English to teach senior secondary classes for ABC Public School Coimbatore. Fluency over English is a must. There is no compromise with moral values and discipline. Salary as per 7th pay commission. Apply to the Principal within 7 days.
