There are two types of Invitations namely Formal Invitation and Informal Invitation

Formal Invitation

1.      A formal invitation is generally printed invitation card. It is a single sentence presentation in third person. We use it to invite guests or invite people to the auspicious occasions like inauguration of shops, weddings, birthdays, housewarming, etc.

2.      It gives answer  for the “wh” questions like  who, whom, when, where, what time etc

3.      It clearly mentions

1.      The occasion

2.      Name of invitee

3.      Name of inviter

4.      Details of the programme including date, time and venue

      Informal Invitation

          It is like a personal letter that we write to our friends and relatives.

Remember the following points:

1.      The salutation, “Dear (Name)

2.      The complimentary clause , “Yours Sincerely”

3.      The style is informal

4.      Date is needed, but generally year is excluded

Examples (Formal Invitation)

1.      You are a student of Esaki Vidyaashram, Tenkasi . The school is going to celebrate its Annual Day on Saturday, the 4th Feb, 20XX at 6 pm. Dr. Sivan, formerly ISRO Chairman has consented to be the chief guest and will give away the prizes. Design an invitation card to be sent to the parents and other invitees. Do not exceed 50 words.

 

 

The Management, Principal, staff and students of ESAKI VIDYAASHRAM CBSE AFF. INFORMAL INVITATION

1. Write an informal invitation to your school friend Hari, who lives at the same town, inviting him to have dinner at your residence.
